BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, has launched a new 3S Centre in Miri, marking the latest expansion of its East Malaysia footprint and strengthening access to sales, service and aftersales support for customers in Sarawak.
Spanning 12,228 sq ft, the Miri 3S Centre is BYD’s largest 3S facility in Sarawak to date, bringing sales, service and spare parts support together under one roof. The facility comprises a 5,838 sq ft showroom with capacity to display five vehicles, and a 6,390 sq ft service centre featuring six service bays with capacity to handle up to 35 vehicles a day.
Supporting customers from vehicle discovery through to ownership, the centre also features a customer lounge, bar counter, discussion room, dedicated vehicle delivery bay and EV charging facilities for BYD sales and service customers.
“The opening of the Miri 3S Centre marks a milestone for BYD in Sarawak. As more customers embrace electric mobility, we want to ensure that our network grows alongside them, with convenient access not only to our vehicles, but also to the service and aftersales care that underpin a positive ownership experience. The new centre gives us greater capacity to serve customers in Sarawak,” said Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Sime Motors, Southeast Asia.
Operated by Kah Progression Auto Sdn. Bhd., the Miri 3S Centre is supported by 15 employees across its sales and aftersales operations. Kah Progression Auto is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oriental Holdings Berhad, which brings more than 60 years of automotive industry experience across Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. Its partnership with BYD and Sime Motors builds on this automotive experience as it expands into the EV segment, bringing established local market knowledge and operational capabilities to support BYD customers in Miri.
To celebrate the launch and bring the brand closer to the local community, Kah Progression Auto will host an interactive roadshow at Bintang Megamall’s Ground Floor, East Court (Old Wing), from 16 to 18 October 2026, running daily from 10am to 10pm.
The Miri opening is part of BYD Sime Motors’ continued growth across East Malaysia. In December 2024, Sime Motors opened East Malaysia’s first BYD 3S Centre in Kota Kinabalu, establishing a dedicated sales and aftersales hub for customers in Sabah. With Miri now strengthening coverage in Sarawak, BYD Sime Motors is progressively building up its 3S capabilities across both states.
In Sarawak, BYD Sime Motors currently operates 3 authorised outlets in Kuching, Sibu and now, Miri. The Miri 3S Centre adds further service capacity to this footprint and provides a dedicated hub for customers in the northern part of the state.
